By the end I couldn’t help but think.
The one brother leaves his pregnant wife at home without telling her that he’s going to this foreign country for an extended period of time.
It felt like… wow. People are going think “that was kind of a shitty thing to do but he gained personal and spiritual enlightenment and is coming back a better person so whatever it was OK in the end”.
But if it had been a woman in that role who had left a husband at home to care for a child without telling him where she was going, the grief would never end. “OMG I can’t believe she did that. How dare she abandon her family! The end does not justify the means”. It would have probably been a bigger part of the movie as well, other characters being more concerned about it and all.
Not really relevant to the movie, just left a nagging feeling.
